June

A squirrel made contact with the circuit 2 recloser inside the substation. The operators began isolating the substation and restoring four of the seven affected circuits from neighboring substations via SCADA. By 9:08 a.m., 3,283 affected members were restored. By 10:26 a.m., our crews finished restoring the remaining three circuits, restoring the remaining 3,254 affected members.

May

At 3:32 p.m. Thursday May 29, 2025, Ham Lake Substation Circuit 5 recloser locked out, leaving 716 members in Ham Lake without power. Our crews rode out the line and found a tree had likely fallen and brushed our line near 153rd Ave NE & Davenport St NE. At 5:05 p.m., power was restored via SCADA to all affected members.

Coon Rapids (5/27/25)
At 10:08 a.m. Tuesday May 27, 2025, Parkwood Substation Circuit 4 recloser operated a single time causing a momentary outage on this circuit and revealing a smaller sustained outage to 332 members in the Coon Rapids area. Our crews found a burnt off red phase jumper near Eagle St NW & Egret Blvd NW which feeds the underground portion of Parkwood Circuit 3. Due to the jumper location, our crews isolated the underground portion at 11:54 a.m., outaging an additional 680 members. At 12:03 p.m., our crews back fed the underground from a neighboring circuit, restoring all affected members.

Zimmerman (5/27/25)
