No rate increase in 2019
Rates hold steady for another year
Good news for our members. For the second year in a row, there is no planned rate increase for your basic electric service. That’s because the Connexus Energy Board and employees continue to find effective ways to manage costs. That includes some of our bigger new projects like solar plus storage, AMI automated meter reading, and Wi-Fi thermostats.
New initiatives are helping to reduce costs; and, in turn, we are able to pass on the savings on to our members. We are doing this while still maintaining one of the most reliable and efficient distribution systems in the Midwest.
If you’re a fan of Nest thermostats, you’re in for some savings. Connexus Energy is now partnering with Nest and rewarding you for using less energy when everyone is using more. You get a $125 rebate for signing up for Rush Hour Rewards, plus an additional $30 in summer savings.
When you sign up for Rush Hour Rewards, Connexus Energy will reward you to reduce the electric load during times when demand for energy is high (that’s the rush hour). You don’t need to do anything, your Nest thermostat will do all the work for you, while still keeping your home and you comfortable.

Brian Burandt, Connexus Energy’s Vice President of Power Supply and Business Development, was recently recognized for his contributions to the growth and development of the energy storage industry. Burandt was presented with the Utility Champion award at the annual Energy Storage North America Conference held in Pasadena. Burandt was instrumental in getting our Ramsey and Athens Township solar plus storage sites up and running. Congratulations, Brian!
Energy Efficiency Tip of the Month
Heading out of town for a winter vacation? Remember to unplug electronics that draw a phantom energy load. Some gadgets, like TVs, gaming consoles, chargers, and DVD players, use energy when plugged into an outlet –– even when they’re not in use.
Dear Connexus Energy,
Your continued support plays a critical role in our restoration work at the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge and Anoka Sandplain. You are helping us lead the way in restoring healthy land and water across Minnesota.
Project by project, we create deeper understanding and enduring commitment to preserving and protecting more than 20,000 acres of Minnesota’s natural heritage.
