It’s election time at Connexus too!

As a Connexus Energy member, we encourage you to participate in our upcoming annual election. When you vote, you elect fellow members to serve on the Connexus Energy Board of Directors. The Board is the governing body for our cooperative and the directors set the policies and rates. Your vote is your voice in how the cooperative is run.

A voting packet will be mailed to you in late March. The packet includes information on the candidates and how you can vote electronically, by mail, or in person at the Annual Meeting. An independent tabulation service mails, receives, and tabulates the ballots. Election results will be announced at the Annual Meeting on April 16 and will be available online at connexusenergy.com.

Chance to win electric lawn mower

All members who vote online in the Board of Directors election are automatically qualified in a drawing for a cordless electric lawn mower. For your chance to win, you must cast your vote online at connexusenergy.com. Watch for your mailed Annual Meeting packet or your individual passcode to enter into the online voting website.

You’ll hear how Connexus Energy is creating a new modern utility network, how we’re collaborating with our business and community partners, and what we’re doing to build upon your Connexus experience.

Due to COVID-19, the April 16, 2020, Annual Meeting will be modified to the announcement of the director elections as the single agenda item. Due to the precautions being taken to contain the spread of the virus, attendance will be limited to director candidates and board. Announcement of the results will be shared with the membership through various means following the meeting.

Reports on the business of the cooperative will be shared via our website and YouTube in April.

Our Peak-Time Rebate program lets you to decide how much energy you want to save. In turn, we pay you for each kilowatt-hour of energy saved when compared to your normal usage. You help us save energy on days when it is most expensive for energy to be produced.

A free Wi-Fi thermostat and free installation? But there’s more. You’ll also get $30 off your 2020 summer electric bills ($10 in June, July, and August). And, you have the option of choosing to participate in our energy-saving events.

We all pay for energy theft

Stealing electricity is dangerous, against the law, and ultimately costs all our members. It is illegal to tamper with electric service or reconnect it. Knowingly using electric service that is not correctly metered or while not having a legitimate account with Connexus Energy is stealing. Protect yourself and others by reporting anyone tapping into a line, bypassing a meter, or tampering with equipment to our Member Services at 763.323.2650. You will remain anonymous and any information you report will be confidential.

Macaroni taco bake

Ingredients:

• 2 – 7 oz. pkgs mac & cheese mix
• 1 lb ground beef
• 1 cup chunky salsa
• 2 cups crushed tortilla chips
• 1 – 2 oz can sliced olives, drained
• 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
• Sour cream, optional

Preparation:

Prepare mac & cheese according to package directions. 
Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook beef until no longer pink; drain. Stir in salsa; set aside.
Spread macaroni into greased 13×9 baking dish. Layer with beef mixture, chips, and olives; sprinkle with cheese.
Bake, uncovered, at 350° 15-20 minutes. Serve with sour cream if desired.

Looking for an easy way to make your home cozier? Try using an area rug to increase the insulation levels of your floors. Area rugs are stylish and can keep cool air from entering through your floors. Your toes will thank you!

Bacon & cream cheese roll-ups

Ingredients:

• 1 large loaf of white bread, crusts trimmed
• 8 oz package of cream cheese, softened
• 1 lb sliced bacon, cut in half

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cut each slice of white bread in half horizontally. Spread with cream cheese. Tightly roll each piece of bread with half a piece of bacon. The bacon should be on the outside of the bread. Secure with toothpicks.
Arrange roll ups in a single layer on a medium baking dish. Bake in preheated oven 30 minutes, or until bacon is no longer pink and bread is lightly browned. Serve warm.
