For the fourth consecutive year, Connexus Energy is keeping its residential rates the same. That is good news for residential members, especially those who are struggling during the coronavirus pandemic.

“New initiatives are helping us to reduce costs and, in turn, Connexus is able to pass on savings to its members,” says Connexus Energy Board Chair, Fran Bator. “Our solar plus battery storage systems, along with our peak management programs, offset over $5 million from our wholesale power cost in 2020. We also appreciate members that took control at home by reducing their use during requested summer hours to save even more from our Peak-Time Rebate program, a rate only offered by Connexus in Minnesota.”

“Beyond flat residential rates, members will realize savings from our 2021 commercial business and outdoor lighting rates,” said Greg Ridderbusch, Connexus President & CEO. In fact, Connexus Energy’s rates remain lower than those of nearby utilities. When comparing the same usage between a residential home within the Connexus and Xcel Energy service areas, Connexus rates remain 2%-4% less than Xcel.

Connexus Energy is the largest member-owned utility in Minnesota providing electricity and related products and services to approximately 138,000 homes and businesses in portions of Anoka, Chisago, Hennepin, Isanti, Ramsey, Sherburne, and Washington counties.
