$45 each summer Sign up before May 14, 2010, and get a $45 rebate on your June electric bill plus a $10 Caribou gift card.* NOTE: If you previously signed up for the PowerNap program you do NOT need to re-enroll each year. Your $45 credit will automatically appear on your June electric bill. Benefits Summer is when Minnesotans use the most electricity; this is also when it's most important to conserve energy. Participating in the PowerNap® air conditioning program allows your air conditioner to take an occasional "nap" while keeping your house at a cool and comfortable temperature. It not only helps to conserve energy, it also reduces your electric bill. That's good for you, good for us, and good for the environment. Rebates are available for new or retrofit central air conditioners. How it works A licensed electrician will come to your home to install a small radio receiver near your air conditioning unit - free of charge. On hot and humid summer days when demand for electricity peaks, a radio signal is sent to your air conditioner telling the AC condenser to cycle on and off during peak periods. When electric demand decreases, the air conditioner automatically returns to regular mode. Your air conditioning fan will continue to run while the AC condenser is turned off, so you may not even notice the slight change in temperature that will occur. Program requirements Air conditioner must meet current State Electrical Code before installation. A disconnect box (see photo for example) must be installed on home. How to sign-up 1. Enroll in the program online or call customer service at 763.323.2650. 2. Connexus will arrange for the radio receiver to be installed and inspected within two weeks of enrollment. *Rebate of $45 is in lieu of $11.25 monthly credit from June to September. Caribou gift card available to new PowerNap air conditioning participants only. |
