Certification Process
Become Certified to Perform Quality Installations
Connexus Energy seeks to validate four components of proper installation with our trade partners: proper sizing, airflow, refrigerant charge and duct sealing. Before offering cooling rebates to our members, all contractors must pass an online installation assessment or must have one technician who is NATE Service of Installation Certified in Air Conditioning or Heat Pumps. Both certification options are outlined below:
- Quality Installation Certification: Contractors will need to go through the online registration process to obtain the free assessment (one free assessment per technician), as well as a username and password. Our partner, HVACReducation.net, is administering the assessment process. In addition, they offer a review and other preparation courses for purchase.
You will need a Minnesota tax ID or federal tax ID
in order to complete the process.
- NATE Certification: To become a NATE certified contractor, you must pass both a CORE and a SPECIALTY exam. Once you pass both a CORE and a SPECIALTY installation exam, you will be NATE certified. Click on the link below for more details on this certification.
NOTE: If you are certified through Xcel Energy or one of the
participating electric cooperatives (pdf) and have a four digit password, you do NOT need to re-register. If you are already NATE certified, you simply need to register on
HVACReducation.net.
